On a certain level, it still irks me that Daft Punk’s soundtrack to Tron: Legacy wasn’t all digital sounds in its initial configuration. I’ve written about what I thought would have made a better soundtrack to that film because, as a long-time Tron nerd, I am passionate about those visionary/borderline terrible science fiction films. So, this compilation, part 2 of the collective internet chiptune “let’s cover Daft Punk” consortium (part 1 is here), works well to redeem some of the tracks of Daft Punk’s borderline terrible soundtrack to that borderline terrible film. Don’t get me wrong, their soundtrack has some great bits (as does the movie), but it has plenty of Hans Zimmer-lite stuff that needed a little redemption. And throwing in covers of Discovery-era tracks always is a hit with me. Don’t miss Ary from Anamanaguchi’s chiptune/brostep cover of Human After All’s Make Love, either!
