Bloodhouse - Bloodhouse
Man, how brütal is this? This band hits all of my buttons: massive drums, relentless bass grooves, and destructively noisy guitars. I can’t tell how much of their sound is by design and how much of it is an artifact of this being originally a tape release, but I hope it’s the former—I’d much rather the waves of noise than a clean recording. It’d be simple to lump these guys in with other Canadian noise monsters like Calgary’s Women or Vancouver’s Japandroids (though these guys are from Halifax—that’s the equivalent of comparing an LA, Chicago, and New York band because they’re all from the US), but they’re not as noise-obsessed as Women and more metal/less punk than Japandroids. Let’s just call it whatever we want and listen to it extremely loudly.
